I try to plan a years worth of deals before the end of the year. Having deals planned out at least 3 months out really helps keep yourself organized and focused.
When creating promos I start off by going over all the holidays in the year. You can also Google “content calendar” to find industry specific holidays too like Skin Cancer Awareness Month. You can also add your birthday, city/state specific holidays, etc.
At BBHL we’ve always hosted a Feminine Hygiene Drive in November so we can donate items to a women’s shelter right before Thanksgiving. We also always do a gift certificate deal during December to get a little more sales before the end of the year. Find what holidays and promos works for you & keep in mind your schedule when creating them.
Next, think of any new products or services you may be adding to the business as well. Getting clients to show excitement and try new products and treatments will be a piece of cake if you promote them properly.
Once you have all these items jotted down, go through and think of treatments that relate to those items. For example: Fathers Day you may want to promote a treatment or product geared towards men. For the first month of summer you can promote spray tanning, body waxing or a soothing/hydrating facial. If you’re bringing on a new treatment or product you can do a promo for that treatment or product to get your clients to try it out.
Try to avoid giving too high of a discount if you can. If you’re a new Esthi and trying to build your clientele still check out my previous post HOW DO I GET CLIENTS.
You want to try to add value to your treatments to avoid loosing out on profits.
Some examples of value promos: Free high frequency with any acne facial. High frequency is done with a tool so you won’t have to spend more money to replenish any supplies. You can offer a discount on after care when your client books any wax service. You can provide a free hand, gua sha or scalp massage with a facial or body treatment. If you do mainly brows you can add on a under eye gel or free lip wax. Those treatments are very low cost and can be done fairly quick as well.
Once you decide on your promos you can go into a graphic design app like Canva and create graphics for your upcoming promotions. Make sure your image includes:
Promo name, how much your client will be saving, dates the promo is valid and how to book or purchase the promo. Using a photo of the treatment, product or results is a good idea too.
If you’re like me and you like to hand write your notes and make rough drafts download my Promo Planning Worksheet. I also pre-loaded some the main holidays we celebrate. Download it here: promo-worksheet
